Water a Flower Day May 30, 2017

DIANE'S CORNER ... Celebrating Water a Flower Day
Image result for Water a Flower Day gif
If it hadn’t been for coffee, cocoa, vanilla, lavender, chamomile, marijuana, and many other flowering plants and trees, our world would have been a barren, dismal place. So Water a Flower Day is that yearly reminder to show our flowers how much we appreciate them for their sumptuous colors, their fragrant blossoms and their medicinal, or sometimes lethal, properties.
The best way to celebrate Water a Flower Day is by giving all of your household and garden plants an aquatic treat. Also, studies show that gently caressing them in the way that a diaphanous zephyr would in their natural habitat promotes growth, so don’t be shy, give their leaves a tender squeeze. Unless you own a Rafflesia Arnoldii, the largest flower on the planet, which doesn’t have any leaves and is also known as the ‘corpse flower’ due to the odor it oozes when disturbed. That’s one plant we wouldn’t mind forgetting to water, isn’t it? Best stick to roses and lilies, I say, and water them, stroke and sing to them like you would to a child. You’ll be a better person for it and you’d make the world a brighter, sweeter and more colorful place.

Kaamatan is a festival and public holiday in the state of Sabah in Malaysia. The festival is celebrated by the Kadazandusun people, the largest indigenous ethnic group in Sabah. Irrigated rice is their principal crop, and the harvest is a ritual dedicated to the Bambaazon, or rice spirit. If the harvest has been good, this is a thanksgiving; if it has been poor, the ritual is an appeasement of the spirit. This festival is celebrated during the month of May with carnivals, special exhibits, sports competitions, and a regatta, all leading up to the harvest rituals on May 30-31 in Penampang.

My girlfriend told me about this site as she has been clicking it daily for a long time. She has also supported them by buying from their stores and said the quality was excellent. What I do is look along the top row which has a "G." That stands for Greater Good, the name of the site.

Daily, I click each one of the concepts along that top row Hunger, Breast Cancer, Animals Shelters, etc. An area appears to click your support individually. Take a minute and make this part of your daily routine, too.

It feels good and does good .. win/win, eh? :-)

CLEVER
WOODEN SPOON FEEDER
A plastic soda bottle and a couple of wooden spoons make a great bird feeder. You just have to make holes in the bottle for the spoons and be sure that you angle the spoons downward so that the birdseed will drizzle onto them. This is a really cute idea and a great project for the kids.

  1. Looks like another day that will see Mother Nature watering plants...at least the ones outside. Maybe a bit of hail too--just to keep them awake?!

  2. The Memory Blanket freebie is going on my hit list. I gave all my scraps away before the great MOVE and again, more recently, to my DiL for a scrap blanket she was making but I will continue to save them and see if I get enough to make one. I am making an axe head/apple core scrap quilt bit by bit.
