An ode to…the time clock? The assembly line? The office computer? The poem may need some work, but this is what Poetry At Work Day is all about – finding the beauty in your job and putting it into some form of artful prose.
Every day in our jobs we encounter people and situations that could be put into verse – whether it be a line from an important presentation, a rhythm you notice in the manufacturing process, or perhaps the feelings you wish to encapsulate about the people you serve or a situation you faced. Poetry at Work Day is a great opportunity to take a bit of time to slow down and get your creative juices flowing – to try to put into words in a beautiful way an aspect of your workplace. So, get brainstorming and creating your poetic masterpieces – the world is waiting to hear them!

History
Dr. James Bedford Becomes First Person to Undergo Cryopreservation (1967)
The field of cryonics involves techniques in which cold is applied for a variety of therapeutic goals, including brief local anesthesia, destruction of superficial skin lesions, and preservation of cells, tissue, and organs—or the entire body—in the hope that healing and resuscitation may be possible in the future. In 1967, Bedford became the first person to have his entire body frozen in perpetuity.
Edmund Burke (1729)
Burke was a British parliamentarian, orator, and political philosopher. Essays he published in the late 1750s gained the attention of Denis Diderot and Immanuel Kant, and he was hired to edit a yearly survey of world affairs. In his many and diverse writings, he left a monumental construction of British political thought that had a profound and long-term influence in England, America, and France. Burke held contrasting opinions on the American and French revolutions.
Maybe that Workout Can Wait till the Weekend?
It has become a habit. Each week, the weekdays fly by so quickly that you find time to exercise only on Saturdays and Sundays. If you're feeling guilty about your "weekend warrior" exercise schedule, stop. |

WOLF MOON - TONIGHT
So called by Native American tribes of New England and the Great Lakes because at this time of winter, the wolves howl in hunger. The January Full Moon.
The first full moon of 2017 (falling in the sign of Cancer) packs a powerful punch. A ton of driving energy will be present–but yielding it to our advantage will take some key insight. Important situations will likely come to a peak point and decisions will need to be made. Some clarity should also come to the table and a light bulb of awareness turns on.
The Moon will be located on the opposite side of the Earth as the Sun and its face will be will be fully illuminated. This phase occurs at 11:34 UTC. This full moon was known by early Native American tribes as the Full Wolf Moon because this was the time of year when hungry wolf packs howled outside their camps. This moon has also been know as the Old Moon and the Moon After Yule.

RECIPE

Jerk Chicken (or use pork chops)
1/2 c. Water
1/4 c. Soy sauce
2 Green onion(s)
1 t. Allspice
1 t. Cinnamon
1 t. Pepper
1/4 c. Soy sauce
2 Green onion(s)
1 t. Allspice
1 t. Cinnamon
1 t. Pepper
Blenderize above ingredients.
Lay up to 3 lb. of chicken or pork in a large shallow pan and pour the sauce over all. You can marinate this or bake right away at 325° for 1-1/2 hours, turning once...it don't matter, it is still going to be great!
It is not like the hot-hot jerk so popular today, so if you want it really hot, you will have to fix that.
