Celebrate World Farm Animals Day
Farm animals are cute, and they also play an important role in modern society. Take some time to appreciate them this World Farm Animals Day. Created in memory of Ghandi, who believed in treating all living beings with respect, World Farm Animals Day was founded to highlight the poor conditions suffered by some farm animals, and promote awareness in the hope something may be done to improve their lives.
While World Farm Animals Day has an important, and sad, origin, in the sense it was created to raise awareness of suffering, it can be celebrated in different ways with children. Taking children for a visit to a farm is a great way to teach them about farm animals, and it’s a good chance to instill in them the message of treating animals with respect. Another great way to celebrate is by donating to an animal protection charity of your choice.

This Day in History
Richard III of England (1452)
Richard III was made a duke after his brother Edward of York deposed the weak Lancastrian king Henry VI and assumed power. Richard and Edward were driven into exile in 1470 but returned and defeated the Lancastrians the next year. On Edward's death, Richard became protector for Edward's son, the 12-year-old King Edward V, but he usurped the throne and confined Edward and his brother to the Tower of London, where they were likely murdered.
Gandhi Jayanti (Mahatma Gandhi's Birthday)
October 2 is a national holiday in India to commemorate the birth of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who came to be known as Mahatma ("great soul") Gandhi. At this time, pilgrimages are made from throughout the country to the Raj Ghat on the banks of the Yamuna River in Delhi, where Gandhi was cremated. Many communities also hold spinning and weaving sessions in his honor. Gandhi was the leader of the movement for Indian nationalism, the 20th century's great prophet of nonviolence, and a religious innovator who encouraged a reformed, liberal Hinduism.

Clayton's Beach Bar and Grill |6900 Padre Blvd South
Jimi Hendrix said it, those “castles made of sand, fall in the sea, eventually.” But before the Gulf of Mexico tries reeling the sandscastles into the water, they're quite the sight—especially the ones at South Padre Island Sandcastle Days. Sand castle? More like "sand wonderlands." This South Padre Island, Texas, sand soiree attracts tens of thousands of attendees who come to see the creation of many magnificent sand sculptures. It’s also a qualifier for the World Championships of Sand Sculpting (yep, that’s a thing).

The Trinidad and Tobago dollar is the currency of Trinidad and Tobago. It has its origins in the Spanish dollar (also known as "pieces of eight"), which began circulating in the 16th century. The first bank in the territory was the Colonial Bank, which opened a branch in Trinidad in 1837. An 1838 order-in-council by the government designated the pound sterling as the official currency, but dollars issued by various countries remained legal tender. A government ordinance in 1934 named the dollar the official currency, replacing the system of pounds, shillings and pence at a fixed exchange rate of 1 dollar for every 4 shillings 2 pence. Trinidad and Tobago entered a currency union with other Caribbean nations after World War II, which was replaced by the modern Trinidad and Tobago dollar in 1964, two years after the nation's independence. This is a 1905 two dollar note.

MARS
These natural sand towers, capped with large stones, are known as the Earth Pyramids of Platten. They are situated in Northern Italy’s South Tyrol region. Formed centuries ago after several storms and landslides, these land formations look like a landscape from outer space and continuously change over the years and, more accurately, over seasons. This natural phenomenon is the result of a continuous alternation between periods of torrential rain and drought, which have caused the erosion of the terrain and the formation of these pinnacles. As the seasons change, the temperatures move between extremes and storms affect the area, pyramids disappear over time, while new pinnacles form as well. Location: Brunico, South Tyrol, Italy
