International Men’s Day was created in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago. The main purpose of the day is to focus on the health of males. Other aspects of the day include improving gender relations, showing that men can be positive role models, and promoting gender equality.
Over eighty countries celebrate Man Day, but it’s not always been like this. Most countries on the list such as the United States and the United Kingdom have only recently started to promote the day.
If you want to take part in events, look on-line to find one of many groups gathering together to have fun. Most places will have fun events with a “manly” theme, such as wrestling and rodeo bull riding.
Some years, the coordinators of Man Day suggest a secondary theme to be taken into consideration. Although it’s not needed to follow these themes, most countries do as they allow each country to feel as if they’re part of something bigger.
Lucas Levitan, a Brazilian illustrator based in London, has a wild imagination that seems to invent alternative stories for everything he sees.

Operation Uranus Begins (1942)

Stopped at Stalingrad, the Germans became mired in one of the most significant battles of WWII and were ill-prepared for the deteriorating Soviet weather. The enormous Soviet counteroffensive, code-named Operation Uranus, overwhelmed them. Within days, their entire force at Stalingrad was encircled. |

This is a week devoted to encouraging people to read the Bible, in the belief that it will arouse a positive spiritual force in a world plagued with problems. National Bible Week is promoted by the National Bible Association (originally the Laymen's National Committee), a non-denominational group of businessmen founded in 1940 and devoted to the application of the Golden Rule in daily life. If You Were Born Today, November 19
You are a determined, sharp-witted person with strong desires and attainable ideals. You need to stand out, not in a flashy manner, but as an entirely unique individual. Others naturally admire you for your strength of character and backbone. Although you are a natural leader, you are also a humanitarian. At times quite self-absorbed and private, you are very much at ease in social settings as well. You need channels for your strong desires and your need for self-expression. Never afraid of an obstacle along your path, you are gutsy, dynamic, resourceful, and you rise to a challenge. Cranberry Applesauce
thenosher
Ingredients
- 4 lb (1.8 kg) apples, preferably a mixture of sweet and tart varieties
- 2 cups (200 g) whole cranberries (fresh or frozen)
- ¼ cup (59 ml) lemon juice
- 1¼ cups (250 g) sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp cloves
Directions
- Peel, core, and roughly chop the apples. Combine the apples, cranberries, ½ cup (120 ml) water and lemon juice in a large saucepan.
- Bring the liquid to a boil, turn down the heat to low and simmer the apples, covered, stirring occasionally. Meanwhile, prepare a boiling water bath and heat four pint-sized (473 ml) jars.
- When the apples are tender, about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the varieties you use, remove from the heat. Mash the apples with a potato masher. For a smoother texture, purée with an immersion blender but leave some chunkiness.
- Add the sugar and spices and return mixture to a simmer, stirring to dissolve the sugar and distribute the spices. Ladle the sauce into the clean, warm jars, leaving ¾ inch (2 cm) of space at the top.
- After the jar is filled, run a thin plastic utensil around the inside of the jar to release any air bubbles. This is known as “bubbling the jar.” Wipe the rims with a damp cloth.
- Place the lids on the jars and screw on the rings just until you feel resistance.
- Keep the jars in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Allow to cool in the water for 5 minutes before removing. Store in a cool, dark place for up to one year.

Make Eggshell Dolls
Materials:
- Eggshell(s)
- Safety Pin
- Chopstick
- Bowl
- Masking tape
- Cardboard strip(s)
- 5 pennies (per doll)
- Mod Podge
- Tissue Paper
- Scissors
- Craft paints
- Paint brushes
- Foam brush
Directions:
1. Let's empty out your eggs. To do so, use your safety pin and prick a hole at the wide end of the egg and another hole at the narrow end of the egg. Use a chopstick to enlarge the hole at the narrow end so that it's about the size of a penny. (Push firmly, but gently. Don't be scared!)
2. Hold your egg over a bowl. Place your mouth over the small hole and blow. Watch the egg insides ooze out. (Pretty gross and cool!)
3. Thoroughly wash and dry your eggshells. (Optional: Make scrambled eggs with all your egg innards ... or a quiche... or a frittata... yum.)
5. Cut out a thin paper strip and roll it into a circle. Tape the ends together. This will now act as your egg stand.
7. Once those tissues dry, turn the eggshell over. Now the large hole should be on top. Make sure your hole is big enough so that you can drop pennies into your egg. Pour a bit of Mod Podge into your egg. Then, drop 5 pennies into the egg. (These pennies will weight down your egg so that it will stand upright even after being knocked over.)
Note: Pour just enough glue to make sure that your pennies stick to each other and to the bottom of your eggshell. If you pour too much, it will take forever to dry.
8. Now cover this upper part of your egg with more gluey tissue paper squares. Now your whole egg should be covered in tissue squares.
9. Take your egg off your stand and rock it back and forth to make sure that the pennies are in the right position to properly weight down your egg. Once you're satisfied with how your egg is standing, let it sit untouched for a couple of days. (Waiting is tough, but you can do it!)
10. Once everything seems dry, paint away!
11. Once your paint dries, paint on a couple layers of Mod Podge onto your eggs to protect your paint job.
