Celebrate Banana Lovers' Day
My biggest thing is banana pudding, but it’s the devil! So no one is allowed to bring it into my house. Because I can’t control myself!Jennifer Hudson
Finally, the world’s most popular fruit gets a day of its very own, and it’s about time! Whether you like it straight from the peel, sliced on cereal, or baked into a banana bread, the whole world loves banana! Who can blame them, considering how versatile it is? Banana Lovers’ Day celebrates those who just can’t get enough of this brightly colored monkey bait!
History of Banana Lovers’ Day
Bananas are pretty incredible, we think you’ll have to agree. They’re easily one of the best fruits to add to… well… anything! Need to get a boost to your morning but want to have a shake? No problem! Couple scoops of protein powder, a banana, and some strawberries and suddenly you’re rocking your morning with deliciousness! Have some bananas gone brown on your counter? Nonsense! There’s no such thing as a bad banana, just a banana that’s ready to be baked into banana bread! There’s nothing you can’t do with bananas!
What you may not know is that the whole world is eating ONE kind of banana, and that banana type is not the same thing your great-great-grandparents were eating during WWI or WWII. Banana’s have been one of the biggest examples of monoculture in our history, and something in the past hundred years we had a massive plague hit, wiping out every banana of this strain in existence. So an entirely new banana was introduced and is now the one that is grown everywhere.
But you’re a Banana lover, so yo knew that right? If not, welcome to your first fun fact of Banana Lovers’ Day!

If You Were Born Today, August 27
You are emotional and sensitive, sometimes to the point of drama, but the people around you love you for it. In fact, you can achieve the greatest success when you are able to express your creativity and your sense of drama in your line of work. Strong emotions can trip you up at times, but if channeled well, can lead to great success. You can sometimes be a “mother hen”, caring for others and worrying that they’re safe and happy. Loving, passionate, and warm, life would be dull indeed without you! Even so, you can be difficult to know at times, possibly because you wear your feelings on your face, and they are not always indicative of reactions to the company you’re keeping but rather they’re more in line with your thoughts. Misunderstandings can be frequent as a result. You are keenly sensitive, but not only in a self-centered way – you also pick up subtle emotional cues surrounding others, and this may be the reason that you’re so thoughtful. You are a visionary, and you promote love, harmony, and equality. In love, you are attracted to, or you attract, people who are success-oriented, accomplished, and practical. 1908 Lyndon B. Johnson, 36th US President (Democrat: 1963-69), born in Stonewall, Texas (d. 1973)

Johnny Cash is a legendary singer-songwriter. Known as The Man In Black, and for hit songs such as Walk the Line and Ring of Fire, he is also known for his baritone voice. Cash only had 3 voice lessons before he was told to stop. The voice teacher told Johnny to stop taking lessons and to “Always do it your way.”
April 11, 1954 is on record as being the most boring day in history. How did it earn that distinction? Scientist William Tunstall-Pedoe was part of a project called True Knowledge. This was a database of more than 300 million facts. From this collection of facts, Tunstall-Pedoe wrote a script that would search all the data and determine what day had the least amount of events. That is how April 11, 1954 became known as the boring day in history.

On this date, the first edition of “The Guinness Book of Records” was published in Great Britain. The inspiration for the record book can be traced to November 1951, when Sir Hugh Beaver, managing director of the Guinness Brewery was on a hunting trip in Ireland.
After failing to shoot a golden plover, Beaver and the members of his hunting party debated whether the creature was Europe’s fastest game bird but were unable to locate a book with the answer. Thinking that patrons of Britain’s pubs
would enjoy a record book which could be used to settle friendly disagreements, Beaver decided to have one produced.

Japanese pork-and-cabbage dumplings, called gyoza, inspired these yummy burgers. The subtle sweetness of brioche or pain au lait buns makes for a perfect pairing, but if you can't find them, substitute with your favorite soft hamburger buns.

Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781–1841) was a Prussian architect
and city planner. He was one of the most prominent architects in
Germany and designed both Neoclassical and Neo-Gothic
buildings, the most famous of which are found in and around Berlin.
He was also a painter and a designer of furniture and stage sets.
This oil-on-canvas painting, entitled Castle by the River, was
created by Schinkel in 1820. As an artist, his architectural talent
shone through, and his buildings and landscapes are carefully
drafted and meticulously executed. The painting is in the collection
of the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin.
