DIANE'S CORNER ... Celebrate Math 2.0 Day
”In my school, the brightest boys did math and physics, the less bright did physics and chemistry, and the least bright did biology. I wanted to do math and physics, but my father made me do chemistry because he thought there would be no jobs for mathematicians.”
~ Stephen Hawking
~ Stephen Hawking
Imagine the way the world used to be viewed! Math as known to be important but not thought to be something you could make a living at and the rising tide of technology was considered a fad! Math 2.0 Day reminds us that technology is here to stay!
History of Math 2.0 Day
Math 2.0 Day is a celebration of the blending of technology and mathematics. For a lot of us, math wasn’t a favorite subject, we’d spend the entire period staring at the equations and wondering what sort of livid madman designed these torture chambers on paper. Ultimately, however, we realized that math is utterly indispensable in our modern world. If you’ve ever wondered who uses math in their day to day careers, you aren’t alone and we have some answers for you.

Programmers deal with mathematics every day, as it’s the framework upon which all computer operations are formed. Everything from the order of operations to quadratic equations is necessary to make even the simplest program. Scientists are one of the biggest users of mathematics, whether they’re calculating the statistical variance of their data or figuring out how much to add to their chemistry experiment, it’s involved at every step.
One presumes you live in a house, drive a car, or operate a computer? The engineers responsible for designing those things so that they work, and especially in the case of the house, use math to ensure it doesn’t come crumbling down on your head. Math 2.0 Day celebrates all these mathematical heroes and more.

In the early hours of July 9, 1982, 32-year-old Michael Fagan broke into Buckingham Palace—for the second time—and entered Queen Elizabeth II's bedroom. He set off the alarm, but guards believed it to be false and turned it off. The Queen awoke when Fagan moved a curtain in her bedroom, and he talked to her while she waited for police to arrive. The officer who was supposed to be posted outside her door at the time was walking the Queen's dogs.

Bill Haley & His Comets first topped the Billboard Charts with their song Rock Around the Clock. The song would remain on the top of the charts for eight weeks and would become the group's biggest hit song. However, the song was not always destined to be a hit. It was initially released in 1954 on the B side of the band's 45 rpm record. However, after the song was featured in the film Blackboard Jungle, it was then re-released and became a huge hit. The song was used in the movie American Graffiti and as the initial theme song for the television show Happy Days -- the song was later replaced by the theme song Happy Days.

Camp Bisco 2018
Jul 12-14, 2018 | Scranton, PA
Founded by much-loved Philadelphia-based jamtronica unit Disco Biscuits, Camp Bisco is an electronic wonderland where you can let your hair down and your freak flag fly. The focus at Bisco is clear from the get-go: Party hard. The wild, weird electronic vibes are grounded by the main event which is staggered throughout the weekend: long, winding jam fusion sets from the Disco Biscuits at the Electric City main stage. The group is known for their trippy light shows and epic cover songs, and in 2015 they certainly did not disappoint. Playing six sets throughout the weekend, they are truly the glue of this unique event and certainly not to be missed.

GEOMETRY OF THE SUN
Teotihuacan means ‘the place where the gods were created,’ and that’s the exact feeling visitors have when they walk along the Avenue of the Dead at this Mexican archaeological site. This pyramid was dedicated to the god of Sun, and I found it mesmerizing how the rising sun in the picture conquered just half the image, while the other half is in the shadows. I have always loved archaeology and ancient civilizations, so I couldn’t wait to visit Mexico and explore the remains of the pre-Columbian civilization. I planned my visit to Teotihuacan at sunrise, to get a combination of golden sunlight, play of shadows, and few crowds around. I flew my drone to see if the image I had in my mind was really out there: luckily for me, this frame was just waiting for my camera! Location: Teotihuacan, Mexico

DIY Homemade Dog Shampoo
bathnbody
These DIY homemade dog shampoo recipes are easy to make. Most of them use basic ingredients you probably already have at home making them some of the easiest DIY shampoo recipes around.
Weekly bathing can prevent itchiness, washing allergens away but remember your dog should be groomed regularly too. Most dogs only require washing if they become stinky. I mean no one likes a stinky dog with bad coat odor right? I like to know what the ingredients are in my pet’s shampoo. You can add some scents to any of these recipes, but make sure you know which essential oils are safe for dogs, and only use a small amount. They have highly sensitive noses remember.
DIY Dog Flea Shampoo
1 litre of water
1 cup of white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
1 1/4 cup of gentle Baby shampoo
Sensitive Skin Homemade Dog Shampoo
1 litre of water
1 1/2 cup of baby shampoo
1 cup of white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup of glycerine
3 tablespoons of aloe vera gel
Homemade recipe is for dry pet shampoo.
1 cup of baking soda
Sprinkle your stinky dog, cat or animal with baking soda (avoiding mouth and eyes) and brush it out with a pet comb or soft brush. The baking soda lifts odours and dirt from the hair naturally without the use of a bath or liquid shampoo.
Homemade Shiny Coat Dog Rinse
2 tbs of Rosemary leaves
4 cups of boiling water. Boil the water and rosemary until the water is infused, once cooled pour over the washed dog for a healthy shiny coat.
Oatmeal Skin Repair Dog Shampoo
1 Cup of Oatmeal ground to powder form
4 Cups of Warm Water
A teaspoon of Baby shampoo or gentle dishwashing liquid
1 Cup of Baking Soda
Dog Coat Conditioner
2 Tablespoons coconut oil
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
