Make Your Dreams Come True Day - January 13, 2023

DIANE'S CORNER ..
Celebrate Make Your Dreams Come True Day

People often make the mistake of letting their dreams remain just that: dreams. Dreams they have at night but then neglect in the morning. Dreams they hardly dare speak of lest they don’t come true. Little bits of fantasy doomed to remain that way. But they don’t have to! Of course, there are some dreams, like becoming a neon flying tiger that fights crime with Batman every night, that will likely never come true.

But there are also thousands of dreams that are not early as impossible as we think them to be, and could be could, in fact, be fulfilled with a little planning and work, and sometimes just the courage to do something different than you have in the past.

“There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.” – Douglas H. Everett

There are some people who chase their dreams every day. There are others who find it hard to chase their dreams. They doubt themselves. They worry that they will never be able to make their dreams come true. No matter what category you fall into, or if you are somewhere in the middle, Make Your Dreams Come True Day gives you the push you need to chase your dreams and make them a reality.

It does not matter how big or small your dreams are, all it takes is a bit of careful planning to get you to where you need to be. With proper planning, you can make your dreams come true – we promise! For those big goals, which seem almost impossible to attain, it is all about splitting up your dreams into smaller, more manageable goals. This will make your end goal more achievable, and it will also keep you motivated, as you will celebrate a lot of smaller wins along the way.

History of Make Your Dream Come True Day

Make your dreams come true day did not have just one founder, or just one founding date, either. Make Your Dream Come True Day is a day that came into existence as a result of the hard work and persistence of all of the people in this world who have been able to make their dream reality, from Bob Dylan, who composed music and lyrics based on his own dreams, to Mary Shelley, who wrote Dr. Frankenstein based on a nightmare she’d had, to James Cameron, whose masterpiece Avatar was also based on an incredibly colorful and detailed dream he’d had. Make Your Dream Come True Day honors all of these people and more wo have had the courage to pursue their dreams and make them a reality. As should you.

The myth that eating carrots can help you see in the dark was invented by the British Airforce during WWII. They were trying to explain how British air raids were so successful without telling the Germans about the existence of radar.

Can hippos swim underwater? The answer is no. Not really. They don’t swim underwater but they can travel underwater. How, you ask? It’s simple, they walk. The mammal known as the hippopotamus travels by walking underwater. Through their body position and breathing, they are able to make themselves float or sink. Once down below, they are able to hold their breath for minutes as they walk to their destination.

PICTURES OF THE DAY

A medieval ship flag captured by forces from Lübeck in the 1420s showed the arms of DenmarkSwedenNorway and Pomerania. At the time, Denmark, Norway and Sweden were united in the Kalmar Union. The flag is believed to originate from the reign of king Eric of Pomerania due to its inclusion of Pomerania's griffin symbol. For the following five hundred years, the flag was displayed as a war trophy in a Lübeck church until destroyed during a World War II air raid on the city. An 1880s copy of the flag is preserved in the museum at Frederiksborg Palace, Denmark. The saint accompanying the Virgin Mary and infant Christ is Saint James the Greater, identified by his scallop shell emblem. The flag was made of coarse linen. All figures and heraldic insignia were created using oil-based paint.
