National I Love Horses Day - July 15, 2022

DIANE'S CORNER ..

Celebrate Nat'l I Love Horses Day

Take some time to show how much horses are loved and appreciated for National I Love Horses Day!

History of National I Love Horses Day

Since the time humans began domesticating these creatures up to 6000 years ago, horses have played an important role in the culture and lives of people. Horses and people have had an incredible, symbiotic relationship that has allowed humans to expand their ability to work and travel, while providing care, nurture and feeding for these domesticated animals.

Many horses have even given their lives for their humans while working or fighting in wars. Horses make great companions and friends for humans as they are gentle, for the most part, and yet very powerful.

And this is probably why National I Love Horses Day was started! Because they are beloved and cherished by so many, that a day of appreciation for them seems fitting.

YOU CAN TELL 'EM IN CHURCH......

Three boys are in the school yard bragging about their fathers.

The first boy says, 'My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a poem, they give him $50.'

The second boy says, 'That's nothing. My Dad scribbles a few words on piece of paper, he calls it a song, they give him $100.'

The third boy says, 'I got you both beat. My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a sermon, and it takes eight people to collect all the money!'

(Not So) TOTALLY USELESS FACTS OF THE DAY
The only member of the band ZZ Top without a beard has the last name Beard.

In Casablanca, Humphrey Bogart never said "Play it again, Sam." Sherlock Holmes never said "Elementary, my dear Watson." Captain Kirk never said "Beam me up, Scotty," but he did say, "Beam me up, Mr. Scott."
Chop-suey is not a native Chinese dish, it was created in California by Chinese immigrants.

The same crime perpetrated by Mr. Thornton - 157 years apart

Truth can be stranger than fiction! Two women, Barbara Forrest and Mary Ashford, were both victims of a similar crime committed in the small town of Erdington, England, about five miles outside of Birmingham. The name of the man accused in both their crimes was Thornton, and both Thornton's were eventually acquitted for their crimes!

Both women had been raped and strangled, their bodies were found 300 yards apart, and both had been found on the same day – May 27, but 157 years apart (1817 and 1974)!

These two women were also twenty-years-old and happened to share the same birthday.

Even more unbelievably, both had just visited a friend that evening, both had changed into a new dress that night, and both had gone to a dance where they supposedly met their killer.

Chester is living his best life ever!

You can use 'ice breaker questions' to build a rapport, enabling strangers to engage in back and forth conversion. With a little practice and possibly a beer or two, you’ll be breaking more ice than the Titanic.

CLEVER
thanks, Joan
Rubbing your teeth with an orange peel helps wipe away plaque, and the oils in the citrus freshen your mouth by killing odor-causing bacteria on your teeth, gums and palate. The gentle acidity of the citrus will also help whiten your teeth.
Make small pouches or sachets of dried peel and leave them in stuffy closets, dresser drawers or funky shoes. Combine dried peels with herbs, flower blossoms, spices or essential oils to make your own potpourri, which can be simmered for high impact or simply left out in a bowl to freshen the room gently.
