Say Something Nice Day - June 1, 2020

DIANE'S CORNER ...
Celebrate Say Something Nice Day

If you cannot say something nice, then say nothing at all. Those are the immortal words spoken by passive-aggressive parents and grandparents all over the globe, but what if we took those words in and actually listened? Well, with days like Say Something Nice Day, perhaps it’s the perfect reason to actually throw caution to the wind and actually be nice to one another. If we look at things with our eyes wide open, we have to admit that the world can be an unpleasant place at times, and if there is something that we really need, it’s a little more niceness.
Say Something Nice Day, while a relatively new concept is actually something that has been doing great things all over the world and believe it or not, it really has been bringing people closer together.
Over the last 50 years, the world has really undergone so much in the way of change, and as soon as the 21st century took over, technology started to play a huge role in separating the human race.
With the sudden introduction of social media came the internet troll, and with this came harsh words behind the mask of anonymousness. While it seems the case that trolling and being unkind is becoming more and more popular, what we really need is a reason to be nice to one another.
With the introduction to Say Something Nice Day on an international level, who knows what could be achieved, the truth is, the benefits are endless. So, next time you think of saying something nasty, remember, it’s far less effort to say something nice.

History Of Say Something Nice Day

Say Something Nice Day began in Charleston, South Carolina, when the Mayors of North Charleston and Charleston came together with members of the Charleston-Atlantic Presbytery and the South Carolina Baptist Convention to create a day to be kind to the special people in our lives, like our children.
It’s also a day to remember and celebrate people who provide us with a variety of services, such as bus drivers, healthcare workers, and teachers. And, it’s a great opportunity to apologize to people that we might have wronged or hurt through our behavior. The aim of this special day is to fight against unkindness, bullying, and the lack of politeness that dominates society today. The creators hope that this one day of pleasantness will grow until people are nice to each other every day.
Set an example and encourage your children to be nice to each other on this day.

At times moody and at other times inspired, you can also vacillate between great practicality and idealism. You might find that following the dictates of your head, which is often your choice, gets you into more trouble than following your heart. Trusting your intuition is the challenge. Southern plains grey langur
The southern plains gray langur (Semnopithecus dussumieri)
is a species of Old World monkey native to the Indian
subcontinent. It is about 62 cm (24 in) tall and lives in groups in
various forest habitats, feeding mainly on leaves, fruit and
flowers in the canopy, supplementing these with insects, gum,
grasses, herbs and roots. The monkeys are considered sacred
in India, and some are used by Hindu priests for religious
purposes. They have adapted to living in close proximity to
humans in urban settings; they are often fed by humans and
accept cakes, millet, and other foods. The species is protected
by law in India, but some are still persecuted for damaging crops,
hunted for food and captured for pets. This photograph of a female
southern plains gray langur was taken in Kanha Tiger Reserve
in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The park was created on
1 June 1955 and was designated a tiger reserve in 1973.
