Celebrate Vegan Cuisine Month
Vegans remove all animal products from their diet for many reasons. Whether it’s because they hope to save the planet by saving animals or just feel healthier overall without meat and dairy in their diet, vegans have become an ever-increasing craze for people to join. If you are a vegan or have friends who are vegans, then check out Vegan Cuisine Month, a month dedicated to all things vegan and what you can do to make your favorite foods vegan and cruelty-free.
History of Vegan Cuisine Month
Vegan Cuisine Month was started by the American Vegan Society to help bring awareness to how easy it can be to switch from meat eating to plant eating. The American Vegan Society was started by President Freya Dinshah, who wrote The Vegan Kitchen (1965), the first cookbook in the U.S. to explain veganism and give vegan recipes to the United States. She and her husband have since been considered to be the founders of the vegan and vegetarian movements throughout the United States as well as the rest of the world.
Some of the things that Freya did for the vegan cause is negotiated with food service personnel for conference catering (1974-1999) and created the first vegan volume recipes for use in colleges, restaurants, hospitals, and other institutions. Freya and her husband through the organization host magazines for their members to read, cooking classes for vegans to take, and other various programs that keep their members up to date about veganism in today’s age.
VS celebrates Vegan Cuisine Month by inviting people to try vegan food, ultimately attempting to create awareness of the variety of options that you have with vegan recipes.

Joke of the Day
IT SAYS SO ON THE PICTURE
Jake is 5 and learning to read. He points at a picture in a zoo book and says, "Look Mama! It's a frickin' elephant!"
The mom reacts, and takes a deep breath. "What did you call it?"
"It's a frickin' elephant, Mama! It says so on the picture!"
The mom grabs the book and takes a look. Her son was right, the book read "African Elephant".

Word of the Day
fanfaronade
MEANING:
noun:
1. Bragging or blustering behavior.
2. Fanfare.
1. Bragging or blustering behavior.
2. Fanfare.
ETYMOLOGY:
From French fanfaronnade, from Spanish fanfarronada (bluster), from fanfarron (braggart), ultimately of imitative origin. Earliest documented use: 1652.
USAGE:
“But what of Trump’s boast that ‘MEXICO HAS AGREED TO IMMEDIATELY BEGIN BUYING LARGE QUANTITIES OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCT FROM OUR GREAT PATRIOT FARMERS!’? The use of ALL CAPS -- a little too insistent -- and the employment of a description for farmers that sounds as if it was lifted from Pravda, circa 1935, should indicate that this fanfaronade, too, wasn’t quite on the level. And, indeed, Mexican officials told Bloomberg News on Saturday they never discussed agricultural purchases in the days leading up the ballyhooed accord.”

Pictures of the day
Bosc's fringe-toed lizard (Acanthodactylus boskianus) is a medium-sized species of lizard found in northern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Active during the day, they are energetic foragers for insects and other small invertebrates, and are one of the most common lizards in their range. Males and females are similar in appearance, both having a snout-to-vent length of between 5 and 8 cm (2.0 and 3.1 in), but males are usually larger. The feet have long slender digits that are fringed. The dorsal surface is olive-grey with five longitudinal dark stripes, the middle one of which subdivides at the neck, while the ventral surface is whitish, but in the female, the underside of the tail becomes suffused with red during the breeding season. In juveniles, the tail is blue. This picture shows two A. b. asper lizards photographed in Dana Biosphere Reserve, Jordan, engaging in a love bite, a courtship ritual that may be connected to certain chemical cues present in the skin.
