Celebrate Int'l Mother Language Day
Announced by UNESCO in 1999, International Mother Language Day celebrates cultural diversity and commemorates the “language martyr” students of 1952 Bangladesh. These students are honored by the encouragement of multiculturalism and the promotion of protective measures for endangered languages.
It’s hard to imagine the challenges faced by students who have been ordered to learn in a foreign language, as without linguistic inclusion, there is no equal access to education. Current International Mother Language Day events include multicultural festivals which promote the hearing of all voices, and display social cohesion, cultural awareness, and tolerance. The unique nuances and subtleties of linguistic communication which connect individuals to culture and personal identity are valued and encouraged.
In the words of Nelson Mandela, “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.”
Ruby Silvious is internationally recognized for her miniature paintings and collages on the used tea bag. On January 3, 2015, she started a project called 363 Days of Tea, a visual daily record of her impression of the moment, using the emptied-out tea bag as her canvas, and altering it to create a new work of art every day for 363 days. She draws, paints, prints and collages moody, evocative and sometimes whimsical art on used teabag paper

Start with sliced strawberries and Nutella spread. Yep we are using the wholesome goodness for Nutella hazelnut spread on these pancake stacks. Slice your strawberries and spread a bit of Nutella on one side with a knife.
Now for the pancakes! We are using mini pancakes in these Seuss inspired treats. Make any pancake recipe you love and drop the batter by tablespoon full onto your griddle. On each skewer, place the pancakes and Nutella strawberries as shown below.
Pop the completed stacks into a glass for serving and you can add a bit of fat free whipped topping to the very top if you like but this is optional. Serve these right away and watch the kids go wild for them.
