As it turns out, waffles are such a popular world-wide phenomenon, that they merit two days in the calendar to celebrate them. Waffle Day began in Sweden as Våffeldagen, actually due to confusion between the Swedish “vårfrudagen” meaning “Our Lady’s Day” which falls on the same date. The day historically marks the beginning of spring and is celebrated by the eating of many waffles.
The alternative Waffle Day began in the USA and honors the anniversary of the patenting of the first US waffle iron invented by Cornelius Swarthout of Troy, New York and is celebrated on 24th August. Whichever day is picked to honor it, however, the waffle is certainly deserving of celebration. The remarkable dough-based gridded cakes can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner, snack or dessert.

In 1804, British Parliament approved the laying of a railway line between Swansea and Oystermouth in South Wales to move limestone from the quarries of Mumbles to Swansea and to the markets beyond. Later renamed the Swansea and Mumbles Railway, the line was approved to carry passengers in 1807. The world's first regular passenger service began that same year and operated in one form or another for more than a century and a half before it was decommissioned. |

If You Were Born Today, March 25
You are playful, spirited, and totally unique in your self-expression. Anyone who knows you thinks you are "one in a million". As likable as you are, some may be intimidated by your blunt approach, perhaps taking your many jokes a little too seriously. Underneath, you are far more sensitive and spiritual than you appear. Your memory is extraordinary and your talents are many. You love a good debate, and with your sharp mind, generally win! Famous people born today: Gloria Steinem, Aretha Franklin, Anita Bryant, Elton John, Sarah Jessica Parker.

Rich Millionaire
A rich millionaire decides to throw a massive party for his 50th birthday, so during this party he grabs the microphone and he announces to his guests that down in the garden of his mansion he has a swimming pool with two alligators in it. 'I will give anything they desire of mine, to the person who swims across that pool.'
So the party continues with no events in the pool, until suddenly, there is a great splash and all the guests of the party run to the pool to see what has happened. In the pool is a man and he is swimming as hard as he can, and the tails come out of the water and the jaws are snapping and this guy just keeps on going and the alligators are gaining on him and this guy reaches the end and he gets out of the pool, tired and soaked.
The millionaire grabs the microphone and says, 'I am a man of my word, anything of mine I will give, my Ferraris, my house, absolutely anything, for you are the bravest man I have ever seen. So sir what will it be?' the millionaire asks.
The guy grabs the microphone and says, 'Why don't we start with the name of the nut that pushed me in!'

RECIPE
Chicken Parmigiana Meatballs
by Jenny Rosenstrach of Dinner: A Love Story
by Jenny Rosenstrach of Dinner: A Love Story
(Makes about 20 meatballs)
What you'll need:
1 1/4 lbs ground chicken
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
2 tbsp chopped onion
1 tbsp chopped parsley
1/2 cup parmigiana
salt to taste
pepper to taste
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp fennel seeds
1 egg, whisked
zest of half a lemon
3 tbsp olive oil
1 14-oz can store bought pizza sauce or homemade marinara sauce
about 4 oz fresh mozzarella (a dozen thin slices; to pile on the cheese would be to cancel out the fact that you were virtuous enough to replace fatty beef with lean chicken)
Preheat oven to 400F, setting rack to upper third part of oven. In a large bowl, using your hands, gently mix together first 11 ingredients. Shape into golf ball size balls and place a few inches from each other on a foil-lined baking sheet. In a small bowl, mix one spoonful of your pizza sauce with olive oil. Brush this mixture on top of each meatball. Bake for 15 minutes.
Remove meatballs from oven, spoon some sauce on top of each meatball, and cover each with a slice of cheese. Broil another 3 to 5 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden. Heat remaining sauce in a small saucepan. Serve meatballs with a dollop of sauce.

CrockPot Taco Dip Recipe
If you're looking for a last-minute appetizer to bring for brunch, this is a winner---and chances are you already have everything you need on hand.
The Ingredients.
--a bit of ground meat (optional). I had two frostbitten hamburger patties leftover in the freezer under way too many packages of frozen edamame
--packet of taco seasoning
--whatever cheese you have on hand--you'll need about 1 cup
--1 cup sour cream
--1 can refried beans
--1/2 can of black beans
--cilantro for garnish
The Directions.
I used my mini crockpot for this. If you don't have a mini, you can place an oven-proof dish inside of the stoneware of your crockpot to create a smaller space.
--if you are using meat, brown it.
I wasn't kidding when I said that the meat I had was old and frostbitten...
--plug in your crockpot and turn it to high
--add your meat and the can of refried beans
--add 1 cup of sour cream
--mix in taco seasoning
--sprinkle the beans on top
--add shredded cheese
--cover and turn the heat down to low if you want to eat it in about 3 hours, or leave it on high if you'd like it done in 1-2 hours.
--everything is already cooked, so you just want the cheese nice and gooey
serve with your favorite chips. I used flax seed so I could pretend it was health food.
The Verdict.
Everyone liked what I was willing to share.

CRAFT
Woven Wall Art
free people blog
Have fun with it and experiment with different colors and patterns!
What you need:
A piece of cardboard to make the loom – I used the cardboard backing from a square frame, and later used the frame to hang the weaving.
String to make the loom
A needle
Yarn and additional string and thread in various colors and textures
Scissors
To make the loom, simply wrap string around the cardboard to create rows as pictured.
Thread the first piece of yarn around the needle and wrap it under and around the first string on the loom, and then under the first two strings as pictured above. Pull upwards to create a knot around the first string. Repeat this step across the loom.
\When you reach the last string, wrap the yarn around the back of the cardboard and start on the next row. Keep going until you run out of yarn or feel like switching colors!
You can stop one color in the middle of the loom, and pull the remaining string through to one side. Start a new color by tucking the yarn underneath the strings of the loom until you reach the one where you left off.
When you’re finished, there are a number of ways you can use the weavings. Place them back in their frames and hang them as wall art:
You can also cut them off of the cardboard (simply cut right down the middle of the strings in the back) and use them as coasters or little decorative mini carpets. I love how they look with the frayed edges!

JUST GOATS
These are goats in a tree. These sure-footed, four-legged creatures are really real. People who think these images have been Photoshopped must not have been to Morocco lately, because if they had, they would be used to seeing goats in trees.
These sure-footed, four-legged creatures are really real. The agility with which these goats traipse the trees is unbelievable.Exactly how many goats can you fit on one tree? The goats climb the Argan trees of Morocco looking for food.
