REMINDER
one of my favorite sites on the internet is freecycle.org.
freecycle.org is a FREE website you sign up with in the community nearest you. its efforts are all to connect people looking to get rid of all types of things (appliances, furniture, toys, books, bric a brac, etc), with people who need certain items. this international organization keeps belongings out of landfills and puts it in the hands of those who truly need or want the items you no longer want to keep!
there are only two things to do when it comes to freecycle .. put out emails to the group that either OFFER or WANT things. then it's between you two to make arrangements for pick up. after that, i always send a thank you note so everyone knows the item is no longer being offered.
If You Were Born Today, March 10
This is a powerful birthday. You are meant to rule or lead in some manner. Even with a sensitive Pisces Sun sign, you are also a very proud and determined person who is charming and attractive. You are a trend setter, always looking forward. Independent and self-reliant, you do best in a job in which you set the pace and the schedule. You have many ideas how to improve the world around you, and you have an unmistakable idealistic streak. Famous people born today: Carrie Underwood, Chuck Norris, Sharon Stone, Shannon Tweed, Jon Hamm, Olivia Wilde, Paul Haggis.
Grooming the Young

A snow monkey grooms a youngster while soaking in a hot spring at the Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. “When I visited, about 30 monkeys were in the hot spring,” writes Masanobu Oka. “I realized that the mother was taking care of her kid just like a human. I watched them for a while before capturing the baby as it opened its eyes.”

CrockPot Broccoli Beef
While making my blog rounds the other day, I came across this spectacular broccoli beef dish on Erin Cooks. I was immediately intrigued by the idea of translating it to the crockpot. I didn't have all the ingredients on hand that Erin used, but was able to put together a very tasty rendition of an Asian-inspired broccoli beef that is gluten-free, and doesn't leave you feeling like you just ingested a tanker full of oil.
The Ingredients.
--1 lb thin beef (I used rib eye)
--1/4 cup soy sauce (La Choy and Tamari wheat-free are gluten free)
--2 T white wine
--2 T apple cider vinegar
--1 T brown sugar
--2 t sesame oil
--2 cloves smashed and chopped garlic
--1/2 t crushed red pepper flakes
--1 bag thawed broccoli florets (to add later)
The Directions.
--add the liquid to the crockpot
--chop up your garlic, add to mixture
--stir in spices
--slice meat into thin strips
--toss ( I used my hands. it wasn't gross!) in the liquid and spice mixture to coat thoroughly
--cook on low for 6-8 hours, depending on the cut of meat. Thicker pieces will take longer to tenderize.
--an hour before serving, add entire bag of broccoli, cover and cook on high for another hour or so.
--stir gingerly to coat broccoli
serve over steamed rice.
The Verdict.
So very good! It really was. Adam said that he hasn't ever had any broccoli beef that has tasted better.
One kid ate two helpings and the other ate one piece of broccoli and ate 3 bowls of rice.

CHILDREN'S CORNER .. bath paints
Good Clean Fun!!!
Why not turn bath time into a fun, creative art time with bath paints.
There are several recipes that called for using dish detergent to make your tub paint. That seemed too harsh for paint that would be all over kids. Use a gentle body wash, clear and gentle on their skin. Great for tub paint! We found that this recipe cleaned up easily, but you might want to test it first on your grout.

Our recipe:
- 1/2 cup body wash
- 5 tablespoons cornstarch
- food coloring
Mix the cornstarch with the soap. You may need to adjust the amount depending on your soap. Mix it in one tablespoon at a time. Divide mixture into smaller bowls. We used small containers with lids to save for future baths. Add a drop or two of food coloring to each bowl and stir.
Now it is time to paint...
