Celebrate Nat'l Eat a Peach Day
Peaches are quite possibly the world’s perfect fruit, they are rich and delicious and even their flesh has an amazing texture. The aroma they fill the air with is enough to turn one’s stomach to rumble, and there’s little that can compare to a nice cold peach tea in the summer heat. National Eat A Peach Day reminds you that it’s never a bad time to spend a little quality time with this perfect fruit.
Learn about National Eat A Peach Day
National Eat A Peach Day is a day that is dedicated to eating peaches, as the name suggests! Did you know that China produces more than half of the peaches in the world? So, we have them to thank for this amazing piece of fruit! Peaches offer a number of different health benefits, and so not only do they taste amazing, but they are great for your well being too. They are excellent in terms of de-bloating and blood pressure control, as well as promoting brain health. They also help with weight management, lower the risk of cancer, protect your eyes, perk up your skin, boost your immune system, and they are good for digestion as well.
Fun facts about peaches
Now, let’s tell you some fun facts about peaches! Did you know that the nickname for Georgia is ‘The Peach State’? It probably, therefore, comes as no surprise that “The World’s Largest Peach Cobbler” is made in Georgia every year. This dessert measures 11 feet by five feet, pretty impressive, right? There are a number of types of peaches, yet the two main varieties are freestone and clingstone. It is more difficult to get rid of the fresh from the pit on a clingstone variety of peach.
History of National Eat A Peach Day
Like many of the world’s most delicious foods, the peach tree finds its origins deep in the NW region of China in a beautiful area in the foothills. Nestled in between the Tarim Basin and Kunlun Shan mountains this tree is the origin of what are arguably two of the world’s most delectable fruits, the peach, and the nectarine. What few people know is that the nectarine is actually the same species of fruit as the peach!
Peaches botanical name is Prunus persica, which tells us something interesting about its history. You see, the persica name comes from its widespread cultivation in Persia, but as we mentioned that isn’t actually where the peach comes from. It quickly spread throughout Europe and the Mediterranean, and eventually found its way to America in the 16th Century by way of the Spanish Explorers.
By the 19th century cultivation had begun in the Americas, and now it can be found and enjoyed all over the world in infinite varieties, from white peaches to nectarines. Oh, how is it that nectarines and peaches are the same fruit but nectarines are furless? Well now, that’s just a recessive trait in the peach tree that’s been selectively bred for by nectarine farmers. Every year nectarines appear on peach trees as a result, and Eat a Peach Day is the perfect opportunity to enjoy either one!

A man spoke to each of his three sons when he sent them to college.
"I feel it's my duty to provide you with the best possible education, and you do not owe me anything for that. However, I want you to appreciate it. As a token, please each put $1,000 into my coffin when I die."
And so it happened. His sons became a doctor, a lawyer and a financial planner, each very successful financially. When their father's time had come, and they saw their father in the coffin, they remembered his wish.
First, the doctor put 10 newly printed crisp $100 bills onto the chest of the deceased.
Then, the financial planner also put $1,000 there in 20 newly printed crisp $50 bills.
Finally, it was the heartbroken lawyer's turn. He reached into his pocket, took out his checkbook, wrote a check for $3,000, put it into his father's coffin, and took the $2,000 cash.
The lawyer is now running for Congress, possibly in your district.

WORD OF THE DAY
groundhog day
MEANING:noun: A situation in which events are repeated as if in a loop, especially when such events are of a tedious or monotonous nature.
ETYMOLOGY:After the 1993 film Groundhog Day in which the lead character, a television weatherman, relives a day in a time loop. Earliest documented use: 1994.
NOTES:Groundhog Day is observed every year on Feb 2 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. The day is named after a superstitious belief that if a groundhog sees his shadow, that is, if that day is sunny, there will be six more weeks of winter. If that particular day is cloudy instead, it would mean an early spring. In reality, the success rate would be higher if they just tossed a coin instead of abusing the animal in a vapid ceremony. The film Groundhog Day shows a TV weatherman on an assignment to cover Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney where he discovers that he is caught in a time loop, where every day he wakes up is a Groundhog Day.
USAGE:“Giaan Rooney: There are no two days that are the same ... and that’s what I needed after the groundhog day experience of a swimming career.”

There about 100 species of tulip, native to southern Europe, north Africa, and Asia. They are perennial bulbous plants growing to 10-70 cm tall with large flowers with six tepals. Besides being the national flower of Iran and Turkey, tulips are closely associated with the Netherlands, so much so that the term "Dutch tulips" is often used for the cultivated forms.Israel
