Bubble Beth Day - January 8, 2021

DIANE'S CORNER ...
Celebrate Bubble Beth Day

That first bath, bubbles rising up around us in a scent that would soon become associated with warmth, comfort, and safety. It started with the love of a mother’s hands, and in time we began to pamper ourselves.

Rich bubbles, beautiful candles, quiet music, and a little time to ourselves have all been the hallmark of the bubble bath. Bubble Bath Day reminds us of these little luxuries, and to take time out of our day to treat ourselves to a little special TLC.

Learn about Bubble Bath Day

Is there anything better than having a relaxing, warm bath, especially during the winter months? The only horrible part is getting out of the bath and into the cold again! Taking a bath is also a relaxing experience for people after they have had a long day at work or looking after the children. It enables them to unwind, ensuring their muscles recover and that they feel relaxed and refreshed. If you don’t have a bath in your home, we are sure that you feel delighted whenever you stay at a hotel and they have a big, luxurious tub for you to use.

When you consider all of the joy and other benefits that the humble bathtub brings, it is only right that we have a Bubble Bath Day. On this day, though, it is all about making sure that your bath is filled to the brim with bubbles. There’s something extra cozy and plush about having a bath filled with bubbles, isn’t it? It just looks much more tempting! Plus, did you know that these bubbles can actually insulate the bathwater? This means that they will keep the water warmer for longer. You can also get scented bubble baths, offering a refreshing and therapeutic smell.

There are a lot of different bubble bath products that have been released over the years. You can get children’s bubble baths, which have been designed to make bath time fun for children while also being friendly on their skin. Some foaming bath, bath foam, and bubble bath also have a dual purpose, meaning they can be used to wash the hair or skin as well. If you do a quick search online or in your local store you will also be able to see that bubble bath comes in a lot of forms as well. This includes gels, liquids, tablets, grains, powders, and more!

History of Bubble Bath Day

Bubble Baths have been popular for as long as baths with surfactant-based soap have been a thing. There are multiple practical uses for them, ranging from the unexpected to the curiously unthought of. Bubble baths have been renowned for their ability to soothe and relax, but this doesn’t actually address the more interesting reasons behind their popularity.

You see, bubbles have the ability to help remove and prevent the nasty ring that forms around your bath-tub, leaving you, and your tub, that much cleaner. Additionally, it can effectively preserve the modesty of one in a bath as the bubbles obscure vision. Additionally, the bubbles act as an insulator, preserving the heat of the bath and allowing you to luxuriate in it even longer.

Bubble baths in general, speaking of the substance one puts in one’s bath to cause the bubbles, are often pleasantly scented, and many of them are combined with ingredients that serve to help moisturize the skin and relax the bather.

Joke of the Day

Word of the Day

disinterested

MEANING:
adjective:
1. Free of bias or self-interest; impartial.
2. Indifferent or not interested.
3. No longer interested.

ETYMOLOGY:
From Latin dis- (apart, away) + interesse (to be in between), from inter- (between) + esse (to be). Earliest documented use: 1631.

NOTES:
Some people, defending the purity of language, would insist that:
Disinterested = impartial
Uninterested = not interested
If you come across someone using the word disinterested to mean not interested, don’t let it bother you too much. That’s what the word originally meant. And the word uninterested meant impartial. Over time the usage flipped, but the original meaning of the word disinterested is still not uncommon.
As long as the meaning is clear from the context, take a long deep breath. The English language is just fine, thank you, and doesn’t need its honor defended.

USAGE:
“The force which makes for war does not derive its strength from the interested motives of evil men; it derives its strength from the disinterested motives of good men.”
Norman Angell; Peace and the Public Mind (Nobel lecture); Jun 12, 1935.

The television Western Rawhide, starring Eric Fleming, premiered on CBS. In the show, Fleming played Gil Favor, a trail boss who led a cattle drive as it traveled during the late 1860s. During the show, the cowboy crew encountered many challenges, dangers and people in need of their help as they moved their cattle through the countryside. At the end of each episode, Favor would order the cattle drivers to "Head 'em up! Move 'em out!" and then the well-known "rollin', rollin', rollin'" theme song, Rawhide, would play through the end credits. The show also starred Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates, the cattle drive's second-in-command. When Fleming left the show, Eastwood's character was promoted to the cattle boss. Rawhide proved to be a big break for Eastwood in his early acting career. The series ended in 1965.

Pictures of the Day

The Coyote is a wild member of the dog family found in North America. Being intelligent and highly adaptable, the coyote is one of only a few larger animals who have been able to increase their territory in the face of human encroachment, despite being actively hunted. In the mythology of Native American peoples, the coyote plays a similar role to that of the fox in Europe and Japan — that of being a cunning and wily trickster.

This picture show a genuine Industrial Diver System since 1895. It is part of the collection of an old retired diver who worked during the 1950s with this equipment in Lake Geneva.The equipment weighed 140 pounds and more air is supplied by a pump activated manually by two persons. The equipment is preserved in its original condition and works perfectly. This allowed us to try it in real conditions and achieve that photo.

You can use 'ice breaker questions' to build a rapport, enabling strangers to engage in back and forth conversion. With a little practice and possibly a beer or two, you’ll be breaking more ice than the Titanic.
